This image appears to have borrowed from Zurbarán's St. Bonaventure Visited by Thomas Aquinas (1629). In both works the armchairs are similar, numerous books are stored in a bookcase, the saint is writing at a desk with a tablecloth, and light enters through the window to symbolize divine inspiration. But this work is a portrait, so we see the cape and hat that reference Bonaventure's status as cardinal-bishop of Albano, and the visit of Aquinas is not included.
